St Luke's Chester

profile
St Luke’s is an adult Hospice that cares for people from mid and south Cheshire suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses. They are a non-profit making organisation offering around the clock care, advice and support to hundreds of seriously ill people and their families. The free care they provide is expensive and around 80% of their costs need to be raised from donations. St Luke’s Hospice ethos is one of service; being of service to local people and community is central to all that they do.

scope
We were approached by St Luke's Hospice by reccomendation from other charities we have worked with over the years, they saw the work we had done and how we had helped across the board; from full appeal launches to event promotion. St Luke's wanted to freshen up their brand; the main parts of the logo had to stay as did the primary blue colour. They wanted us to develop a full brand manual which was clear and concise, with new ideas for posters, leaflets, retail signage, and websites.

brand values
Our aim was to unify communications, and give a message that educates, alleviates fears, enlightens and adds a fresh approach to the difficult subject of end of life therapy and care.

solutions
Extensive brand refresh and design of a corporate brand manual, where we introduced a vibrant colour pallette, ways in which the logo and the secondary graphic (the ripple) should be used. The ripple echoes the logo and further reinforces the far reaching effects the Hospice has on both peoples lives and the community that it serves. The colour pallette respresented a different service within the Hospice, we paid particular attention to each service when matching colours. Within the brand manual we created a typical design for leaflets, posters, retail signage and vehicle graphics.

The little book of achievements was a secondary brief we recieved from a trustee at the Hospice after she was so impressed with our rebrand. This was something which was to be shared internally with the staff, volunteers and supporters of the Hospice so they could see what they had achieved over the past 5 years. We were keen to keep this very visual and vibrant to portray the celebration they deserved for all their hardwork.
